hi.
i followed the documentation and inserted a **/forum folder in my site, trying to install the forum.
however, when accessing **/forum, all i get is the Indexed folder, not the installation page.

can anyone assist?

Not sure what you mean by **/forum or what you mean by indexed folder

Re-read the installation guidelines -
1. Download forum software
2. Unzip it
3. Copy only the forum FOLDER into the directory that you plan to upload it to
Example www.mywebsite.co.uk/forum/

And then keep following the instructions and you should get there
Don't forget to have setup your database first Thumbs Up

Installing SQL Server Forums
Installing MySQL
Installing Access

Choose which one you need

To have got this error sounds like you either have a corrupted file or you have edited one of the files.

Upload the original un-edited files again and then let the install wizard take care of the database connection string etc.

I have the same problem - it worked in test locally, but when I loaded the (unedited) folder to my remote server, I get :

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access...

any ideas?  I did set the permissions on the database folder and I am using SQLServer 2008 and I have a database already there

thanks

This could be due to either incorrect permissions set on the server and so the web server can not access the folder, or you have not setup your default documents correctly for the website.

Make sure that the anonymous website user has read permissions on the folder the forum is in and that you have setup default.asp as a default document for the website.
