Hi,

Our site is running Web Wiz Forum 8.04 and we're having problems with spam. My best guess is that the CAPTCHA version (2.01) included in 8.04 is exploitable by spam bots due to its limited image library and we're looking for ways to remedy the situation.

Is it possible to replace the old CAPTCHA version with the new one and how difficult would it be? I've taken a look at the ASP files dealing with posting topics and replies (e.g. new_topic_form.asp) and I don't see any straightforward way to do this.

One way to deal with the update (provided that) is to copy over the updated CAPTCHA_image.asp and CAPTCHA_form_inc.asp from 9.50, however I guess this is not desirable/legal?

I would highly recommend that you upgrade your whole forum to version 9.50 as 8.06 is quite old now. Version 9.50 not only ads the latest version of Web Wiz CAPTCHA but also address a number of vulnerabilities.
