I have been using WebWiz Forums for my site for a few months now and I am happy with it. I'm using WebWiz despite the fact that the rest of my site is built using .Net 2.0.
So I have come to a point where I need to manage the member database from the .Net side and still inter-operate with WebWiz fully.
Originally, I thought the password "encryption" uses the standard SHA1 hashing algorithm so I did not pay too much attention, but now I realized that it uses a non-standard hashing algorithm, and after searching related posts in this forum, seems like it is known as "Snitz" encryption.
I wanted to buid the same hashing algorithm in C# so that I can manage users from both the Forum and the main site. The standard SHA1 functionality is built-in for C#, but the hashing code seems to be home-baked and quite hard to follow.
Does anyone know if this exact algorithm is documented somewhere? The links in the ASP source either don't seem to exist anymore, or point to different algorithms. Most specifically, if anyone knows where I can find a spec or documentation of the DigestHex( ) function, that would be tons of help.
