mail body not being sent

I installed the RTE and was very happy to see that installation was quite easy and exactly as the readme file described.

I am using this for a simple mail-sending form for a client. I am changing from another RTE that does not work with Firefox.  However, the form works as they have already used it hundreds of time.

After installing the Web Wiz RTE, there seems to a problem that I cannot solve.  I sent some test e-mails and with IE6, the body I receive is blank.  With Firefox 2, I get the body, but I am unable to use any of the RTE formatting. 

I added some javascript to check the body of the message and it is telling me that the textarea does not exist -- even though it certainly exists.

Is there a special reference I need in order to post the information from the RTE when it is being used as a form field?

I am baffled... any ideas appreciated.
