I'm building a site which intends to be a Romanian version of about.com. So, lots of newsletters and online publications. And everybody knows what policy have most of webhosters. Since I could not aford at the moment to buy myself a dedicated server I have to find a trick to send them myself.
The problem is that every newsletter would have its own publisher which will release it at its own will so I want to do an automated thing. The only clever Idea I got so far is that when the publisher hits the "send" button, he/she will send just an email to me noticing me that a newslleter is ready to be released and I'll come in and do the real job.
Any other options?

Could you create a mail script for them and have them login to do it? Limit the number of emails they do and how often?

Well, it would be more like this. Except that until I will be able to move on my own server, I don't want to let them send the email using the website, instead send them myself manualy.

There's a couple of free mailling list servers...

http://www.ezinedirector.com/index.cfm - IIRC, allows up to 10-12k free per month ( or year?)

Server.com also had a free list server.

I'd check the TOS for the free ones to find out if the harvest the addresses in your list.

PostCast is an smtp server/mailing list processor you can install on tyour own machine. The freebie version does 20 address lists. The paid version does more. ever used it, but heard good things about it.

FWIW, the RFC for smtp states that mail servers should allow a minimum of 99 copies of any message (cc/bcc) to be sent at once (total=100). The RFC was written before spam became the problem it is and few ISP's/webhosts will allow a message with 99 cc's - but - they typically do not return any indication that they cut your list short.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.
