This was previously talked about a few months ago in the following post http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=1034&PN=5

I was just wondering if anyone had thought of or created a Mod that allowed the Admin to Mass PM all users or users of certain groups in the forum. I know the previously talked about concern was if a forum had a 1000 members then a message must be stored for each forum user, but can't you just store one mass post and reference it to each forum user?

not a bad point.

1 table for users. 1 table for messages. 1 linking table (Many-to-many).

Not as easy to alter an existing db structure though, as an 'm2m'  wouldn't usually be considered when first designing it.
There have been many, many posts made throughout the world...

Just something to let ya think about,

Something like this mass PM would allow spamers to send out a crap loud of unwanted PM's to all the users on your forum, is this something that you would like?

Anyways just something to let ya think about

Well I doubt it would be a feature that admins would make available to everyone.

I was thinking only allowing the admin or say moderators group. I think this would be a better idea to send out a forum wide message instead of using the mass email members section in the admin page.

  • Is it possible for spammers to send mass pm. All my members (6500) have recieved the same spam. I have version 7.9

If you haven't taken steps to secure an access db, it's possible/probable for someone to download it and harvest every email address in it.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.
