This was posted prior to WWF8 dropping, and I thought it would be a good time to make the request again.

I'm looking for a way to make it possible for a USER to become the ADMIN for a thread each time they make a post. This would allow the user to make posts invisible to other users, but not delete them, that way any issues can be reviewed by the System Admin.

Basically, the MOD would need the following functions:

User would admin any threads they START
ThreadAdmin would make posts they don't want in their thread "invisible"
ThreadAdmin could turn back on invisible posts if they want
ThreadAdmin could make it possible so that ThreadAdmin could see "invisible" posts.
System Admin sees all posts, or can choose to keep invisible posts unseen until there is an issue that needs to be addressed. (usually someone would send an email to the admin if such a need appears)

I think that would do it. I know that someone else was interested, and may have actually started the MOD, but I haven't heard back yet.

Cheers

Sounds interesting, but I don't see how I would be able to use it.

In what situation would you use this for?

Well, instead of just the admin policing the site, the user who started a thread would. For instance, since I started the thread, I could delete [make invisible] your post for whatever reason. [not on topic, flame, etc]

Instead of having just one moderator per forum, each thread would have its own moderator.

That's an interesting way of doing it.  I can see that in some forums, it could easily get abused.  People could start censoring competing ideas.  I wouldn't implement this site wide, but perhaps implement it in forums where people post events or announcements or ads (where the content is about them or their company or organization).  If you do this mod, I would make it so that it could be turned on and off per forum area.

I thought I had responded to this, but I guess not since I don't see a reply.

Yes, I would want it to be an option per forum, that would only make sense, everything else in WWF seems to be that way.

I'm not much of a coder, I simply don't spend enough time coding to be proficient or efficient at it, so I leave it up to more skilled individuals, but I do know what constitutes good code and know what needs to get done to make it happen, fix/find bugs, etc. I'm looking for a coder now, to create this option, and have another job that is outside the ballpark of WWF that I'd like coded.

Would someone like to make this Mod a reality? Let me know, thanks.

I posted the above awhile back and remember someone being interested in producing this mod for me [or us, whoever wants it] and would like to bring the subject back up. I believe the persons name was Ali, but I'd like anyone who can take a shot at it, do so. Would love to have this on my site.

Thanks
