It doesn't really matter whether it's cached or not because you can easily record it anyways and just save it as PCM data (wav) then encode it to whatever format you want. Not being able to download files just prevents causal users from downloading it, but doesn't prevent recording.

I use dbpoweramp which is free. However personally I really hate realmedia it takes even longer to load than WMP.
