I know this question is probably far too general for the tastes of most around here, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
I've recently latched on to the site MyJewishLearning.com (http://www.myjewishlearning.com) as a Community Manager/Webmaster. The site already has a pretty devoted audience (15,000 members) and receives about 150,000 user sessions per month.
Some of the site design is a bit sloppy, and we're discussing a redesign. I'd like some advice as to where to start. One of our biggest priorities is enhancing our community offerings. Since adding a relatively prominent Discussions link to each article a couple of months ago, our discussions traffic has tripled, but we'd like to do even better.
The site is actually pretty complicated, though not technologically advanced. It's mostly HTML, Javascript, and Java, with some Flash modules thrown in. The content is all generated through a custom-built Content Management System.
Well, if you have any thoughts, let me know.
Thanks,
Jason
