Have had a quick look through the boards and cant find this post already so apologies if it has been discussed / solved and I have not seen it.

I am new to webwiz and just got license etc and am building my board.

On posting a thread if I use special characters ( pound sign in this case ££ ) I get the following error message when you press to submit post.. The screen goes white and I get :-

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.41-community-nt]Incorrect string value: '\xC2\xA310 o...' for column 'Message' at row 1

I'm not a Mysql coder or anything so am a bit lost. Any ideas greatfully received.

The £ sign isn't a special character, at least not for us as web Wiz is UK based.

There isn't any reason why you would get this error, unless it is coursed by some character encoding issue on the server.

The first thing I would try is reuploading the files to make sure it is not coursed by a corrupted file.

If this doesn't fix the issue, check that the mySQL database is setup with a default character set that supports the £ sign. We setup all our mySQL database servers using latin1 as the default character set.
