This has been talked to death on almost a daily basses, if you do a search for login and cookies.

For security reasons browsers can only read in cookies from those sites that set them.

If you use any type of clocking, URL masking, IP masking, frames, redirection, forwarding etc. the browser will not be able to correctly set and read back in cookies. It will see the cookie as being set by another site.

Using clocking, masking, etc. is also more stain on the server as cookies are not correctly set a new session for the user is created for every hit on every page thuse creating many more sessions than is needed slowing down your entire site as the memeory allocation for your site gets taken up.
