Hello!

What is the option Anonymous Member(s)?

I feel uncomfortable when I see anonymous users on my forum!
Why this option?

Can I disable it via the administration?

I think this option is for users that voluntarily choose to remain anonymoys so other users can't view their profile etc.

Its nothing to do with profiles or anonymity.

This feature allows users to login "anonymous" so they do not appear in the Active Users list, it also stops the forum marking them as "Online" via the profile and mini profile.

Their posts will still be assigned to them though.

I cant remember if the forum shows who anonymous users are to Admins or not, but I did do this in one of my mods (which is now obsolete), if the forum doesn't I may re-release it

Hi everyone,

I've some across this post from a Google search and realize its a very old topic but in the hope of an answer here goes:

Is it possible for the admin to turn off this feature easily? I ask as I'm a member of a forum that uses this software. The forum is for owners of a holiday resort  to discuss issues with the running of the resort but the managing company has recently asked for access for a separate area of the forum to answer questions from owners but the owners would still have their own area which was not accessible by this company. Since this has happened there has been an increase in the number of anonymous users logging in and has bred suspicion that the admin has allowed them access to the owners area. we have asked for anonymous users to be 'switched off' but have been told it is difficult to do - is this true?

Thanks in advance!

Ronny

It can only be disabled by editing the code and removing the login option ' Add me to Active Users list' and replacing it with a hidden field that is always set to True.

Wow! Thanks for the quick answer Bruce.

I don't know much about these things, is that easy to do? Our admin seems fairly switched on so if it was fairly basic I think he would be able to do it.

Thanks
