    Posted: 06 January 2004 at 1:04pm

I run my own server, so don't ''seem'' to have an outgoing smtp server.

I thought using the local, or ip address along with port number (25) would be sufficient, but all I receive is a page not found after trying password recovery for example. No error message specified.

What address should i use? (running iis 6.0 with default smtp server installed. ).

I have to change all this because cdonts stopped working for some strange reason.

localhost or 127.0.0.1, both mean local host (your own machine)

Thanks. The error message is gone, but now the messages stay stuck in the inetpub queue folder. It doesn't relay the messages for some reason. Same happens with a cdosys test and cdonts.

no items dropped in the ''bad'' folder.

Here's my setup.

used 127.0.0.1 as the outgoing smtp address for the forum. Website running on ip 129.125.101.174.

The rest is all default settings.

Still seems to have the same damn error.
I installed Postcast. All messages end up in line, but they are not sent.

What on earth could this be? Is it possible that my internet provider blocked me from using smtp services (refusing it when checking the dns, note I have my own server and 10 mbit connection, so the website is not hosted with a company)? If that is possible is there a way to check this?

This is driving me crazy.

Check your DNS you gave in Procast
Disable IIS SMTP Service
Was that email id correct ?
Install something else. There are many others
