Is there someone at WebWiz Forums that can help set up WebWiz Forums on my GoDaddy site? I'm have a little trouble. I'd be willing to pay for this service.

Thanks.

I just recently helped someone else who had a go daddy account in setting up their forum. i wouldn't mind helping you also (no charge ofcourse).

If you'd like, you can PM me the info for FTP access and login access to your godaddy account to get into the control panel to get the database info.

i would not advise anyone to give out their username/password for their forum, godaddy, FTP or any other form of account.

its just so very insecure, and to be honest - stupid

Scotty - I've been a part of this community for almost 4 years now. I'm very active and I try to help out wherever I can with my limited knowledge. There is absolutely no need for me to hijack someone's account. I have my own hosting and my own site. There is absolutely no need for me to use someone else's account with malicious intentions.

I recently helped nomadtx in setting up her forum. She gave me FTP access and access to her godaddy account. This is the thread I helped her in: http://webwiz.net/bbs/forum_posts.asp?TID=22547. Feel free to contact her and ask if I did anything "bad" with her account. She can even tell you that I reminded her to remove both accounts she set up for me to access her account. Once I was done helping her, there was no need in me having access to her godaddy account or ftp account.

i just advised that no one should give out their details - as it is a huge security problem.

ive helped people and they offer their details to me - but i refuse them.
as i dont believe people should give out the details and i dont want to be a hypocrite.

this has nothing to do with you personally - am just trying to make people think about security. and giving out details to anyone, wether its you, wether its myself or anyone else - its a very bad idea.

Scotty, I don't think it's that big of a deal... What can you do with my FTP login info if i give them to u? upload malicious code? delete my files? If i really had a popular website then I'm not a novice.., the person that is willing to give out their info don't 'really' care about the consequences... they would if the website was their source of living... or something in that category. Besides...it isn't hard to tell when a member on this forum is trustworthy... just by reading their posts, looking at their stats, etc...

maybe scotty's own website is full of secret docs... will have my security experts eye it from now on and maybe find something Big%20smile

well FTP isnt that bad as it can be changed, but i dont think Godaddy is that good to give out, as you could tranfer the domain? change the password? etc

meh - i personally feel that giving out any login details is a bad idea
obviously the top level CP is the worst, and like an email address is on the lower end of the scale, but its still not a good idea

The original idea here was to give out FTP login details for the purpose of uploading files and editing the database connection details (i think)... not the hosting control panel details ... and yes...exposure of any login info related to the domain control panel is a dangerous/irresponsible idea.
