I was surprised to learn that Parallels (formerly known as SWSoft) has acquired WebHost Automation, developers of the Helm web hosting control panel. It also appears that Parallels now own H-Sphere and other web hosting control panels...

Not a good thing! I do use Plesk (which is made by Parrallels) but I don't like their pricing and technical support.

This happened back last Christmas.

We use Helm ourselves and Parallels acquisition of WHA has coursed no end of issues, particularly as they said they would keep on all WHA staff only to sack them all 4 weeks after the acquisition.

This has meant that updates are now non-existent, and Windows 2008 support which was promised before the February release date of Win2k8 has not happened, at the earliest you can expect it is now October.

Parallels support and pricing do suck, they have already said they plan on moving Helm users to least licensing and have started charging around $600 for 20 support tickets over a 12 month period!

The problem is there is not anything else available for Windows that is stable enough to use. DotNetPanel looks promising but with quite a few shop stopping bugs which the developers are slow to fix it looks like it will be a few years before it would be production ready.

It's really bad for consumers when one company dominates the market of a specific product... and this is what is happening here... Parallels can now increase prices and do whatever they want without worrying about competetion Thumbs%20Down

Interesting and unexpected. Unfortunate it would appear as well.
