Topic: Poll / Groups problem Posted: 07 November 2007 at 9:44pm |
I have just created a new group called 'Admin Assistants' - non ladder ranking and gave this group full moderating status across all forums and also poll voting / creation permissions etc.
I have just added a clan member into this group and he can not vote in a poll that has been posted.
So i created a test user account, stuck this user into the Admin Assistants group and logged in as this user. Went to where the poll is and it says ive already voted....
I have no idea what is going wrong. I think my database might be cocked or something!! Alot of NON clan members somehow got into a group i called Human Resources even though i had only added one of my members into...This unfortunately meant these visitors had access to what i thought was a restricted area
Im thinking about trying to remove all groups that ive added and try to get the database back into a default like way.....is this advisable

My admin assistant man is now also seeing duplicate forums appearing!!
I logged in as him and i did indeed see 2 x Rouges Gallery, 2 x Introduct Yourself forums.....Holy crap, what is going on

More Info:
I set this user back to a normal user, and then deleted this admin assistants group. I then added him to my Adminstrator group so he now has the exact same permissions as me, and he still sees the duplicate forums, but i do not.

If you ceate new private groups make sure they are not set as part of the ladder system of groups, otherwise members will be placed into this group when posting.
The user who is seeing forums displayed more than once, make sure that you hav not set member permissions for this user, if you have either remove or reset the member permissions.

OK, now that sounds like that could have been the problem, i do believe i took it out of ladder system, when i found this problem, but didnt realise the two things were related. That now makes perfect sense because the visitors to the forum that got into the group were completely random...i'll keep my eye on this to make sure...thanks for that

I had been messing with his permissions, as i had given him full access via member permissions before realising that i should really create new groups for people to be in different positions etc.
I take it for this guy, i should goto Member permissions and just try and get him back to default settings somehow, and then add him back into the admins group?
Thanks for your reply borg, you have calmed my nerves somewhat
EDIT: Is there a quick/easy way to reset a users permissions back to a default state, before i go ahead and add him back to admin group?

OK, no matter what i try, i cant get this member to stop displaying duplicates.
I take the member out of the admin group and set him back to visitor.
I then went to Member Permissions and tried to unset stuff, but it seems what ever i do, fails.
Is there a quick way to get a forum member back to having no specificaly set member permissions???

I'm encountering this exact same problem. When logged in my account, I'm seeing duplicate forums...

Okay. I think I have it figured out. - You're going to want to log in as administrator...
- Log onto the admin panel...
- Then go to MEMBER PERMISSIONS
- type in the name of the affected user.
- Deselect ALL permissions and select the duplicated forum. In effect it will be as though you're trying to remove all access to that forum.
- Click CREATE/UPDATE MEMBER PERMISSIONS
Check to see if this works.
