Bob

My advice to you would be to move to web wiz hosting because I'm not just saying this, but trust me, you will not regret it
I had been with 1 and 1 for a while and it was the best thing I did moving out

The problem with your database though may not be fixable as it is already corrupted - however, some of the information may be recoverable. Have you asked 1&1 if they preformed a backup prior to the upgrade as they should have done this at the very least

I am essentially a newbie learning as I make mistakes

If you moved your Web Wiz Forums hosting to us there is a £19.99 migration fee, which includes going through and correcting any errors in the database.

I am now interested in moving my website and forum to Web Wiz for hosting One question I would like answered is: You quote a fee of £ 20.00 for migration? No problem Does this mean that you back up my database and transfer the database and my web files from my present server 1&1 and up load them to your server which means I pass on my password and user details to you or do I do this myself? Your hosting looks attractive

Bob

The best thing I can suggest is that you contact the sales department directly and then I'm sure Bruce will be able to sort this for you. When I transferred from 1&1 to Web Wiz I had a similar situation which required bringing across the database too
All I can say is Bruce was absolutely wonderful at helping me through the process. A word of caution though for you - when closing down your 1&1 account - be careful how to navigate the process as their shut down procedure is not made simple - This is their explanation here

But to clarify if you are bringing across a domain too, then choose

Change provider
If you would like your domain to be maintained by another provider (and only then), you must select this
option. The change is effected differently for every TLD (Top Level Domain, e.g.: .com). If you choose
this option, we will automatically acknowledge a transfer request by another provider

How I worked it through with Bruce when I did was I cancelled the domain first, got that away and over to Web Wiz, then when I was happy everything was up and running, I then pulled the plug on the contract

I had a business package too bob but I just had the wrong provider LOL and I will leave it at that Wink

For what its worth though I do not think you will regret making the move into Web Wiz - its a great company with the personal touch that larger companies often lack nowadays
