I have had an email from a site visitor saying that everytime he views my site a popup window is displayed showing a porn site - I promise I didn't code this in!

Anyway - no one else has reported anything like it, but I was wondering, is it possible to become infected by a virus by just viewing a site (not downloading or anything)? Depending on the answer, should I ever run my site through a virus checker?

Sounds to me like he has visted a porn site (whether intentionally on not) at some point, and clicked yes to have an active x object installed on his/her web browser that makes pop up adds for porn come up once in a while.

I suggest he sees if he/she can unisntall it form their system.

Tell him to run an spyware killer like:

Ad Aware that he can find for free in CNet -> http://www.download.com - www.download.com

You can have a spyware or adware installed when you run some applications that use them to stay "free"

Kazaa is one of them...
