Hey guys! congratulations on an excellent Forum Software! you can see mine running at http://v2.tlab404.com - http://v2.tlab404.com .

The problem is that i have noticed a strange thing happening with my atice users today.  It says :

In total there are 8 Active Users online, 15 Guest(s) and -7 Member(s)

Why do you think the count is out of sync? Also this is..MSSQL, not a free host and version 7.7a

Thank you for any help

How so out of sync? It could be 7 members + 1 member that does not want himself to be identified as being online. (A setting in the CP)

Member(s) online:

It always says -7 members?

If he didnt want to be identified surely, it just wouldnt register in the active users.?

if you haven't tried it ..go into the admin area turn off the active users feature... and go to the forum... and then turn the feature back on...

if this doesn't work turn it off again and wait 20 mins... as that could be the timeout..... and turn it back on and see if that fixes it

As a test, change the name of your application variable.  That we you can isolate if it is another forum on the same server causing interference....

From the above you have 6 active users including 1 Member.

intActiveUsers = UBound(saryActiveUsers, 2) is calculated for the total number of users, so that should be OK.  So 6 is correct.

intActiveMembers = intActiveUsers - intActiveGuests
So we can see from this that if your Guest Count is wrong, for whatever reason, your member count will be wrong as a result.

So the question now is, which is your Guest Count 13 and not 5. Fomr looking at your examples, and your site, your Guest count is always 8 to high, ie it is starting at 8 before it steps through the active users application var.

Make sure you have intActiveGuests = 0 near the top of your page (default.asp).

I use web wiz forum with Access Database and the problem I have is that if users select not to be added to the active users list they are still shown on the active user list.

Is this normal? Can I get it to work properly?

We are upgrading to the latest web wiz forum and converting our database to SQL so would it be better to do that first and see if it resolves the problem?

Sorry if this is a dumb question or if I am hijacking benito's thread

If a meber selects not to be shown in the active users list is shows them as 'annoymous' instead of their username.

I understand that but it still lists all members regardless as to whether they select to not show their on-line status

What version are you running?

There was a bug in the active users that was corrected in the latest version.

You should upgrade to the latest Access version first before converting to MS SQL as it will be allot harder upgrading a MS SQL server version from a previous version as quite a number of changes are done in the stored procedures.
