Hi

Downloaded the forum and installed it (eb-c.org/forum). On my first attempt at logging in as the admin (Administrator/letmein) I got an error message (/forum/login_user.asp, line 171). Several times.

I reuploaded the files. Made sure I was OK for cookies. Same result.

I saw a posting here that suggested logging in to /admin. Success! BUT then I got an error message (/forum/common.asp, line 447) when I clicked on Return to the Main Forum.

Couldn't get to the main forum unless I closed all the browsers.

Any suggestions?

Without posting what the error message is, it is impossable to tell what the problem could be.

If you are using IE you may need to turn off friendly HTTP error messages to get a detailed error message.

ok, the error from logging in as admin at eb-c.org/forum is:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09'

Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.

/forum/login_user.asp, line 171

This error and a solution is listed in the documentation that comes with the software!

The error means that you do not have sufficient permissions to write to the Access database or the database has the read-only attribute enabled on the file.

Thanks, I went here

http://www.webwiz.net/asp/faq/server_permissions.asp - http://www.webwiz.net/asp/faq/server_permissions.asp

I can't seem to effect this change -- can't find that pop-up.

Can I do it in my ftp program (WSFtp)?

Is this happening possibly b/c I'm on WindowsME? When I right click on a folder and select 'Properties' I don't have a 'Security' tab.
