Netscape doesn't show the background of a cell unless there is an image or text included inside the same. I include <img width="1" height="1"> in all the empty cells to bring out the colours and backgrounds nicely. Hence, while taking care of this Netscape bug, I end up having a large html file. Is this procedure ok? Or is there any other way out? The page looks fine on various browsers, though I have yet to upload it and see how it behaves during a download. It takes a second's delay to get displayed fully while reloading in Opera and the Netscape.

That is pretty much the only way around it, but I wouldn't be too worried. I would have a hard time believing a few <img> tags would significantly affect the file size/or downloading time of a page.
