I use a mssqlserver.
Finally i installed the ver 7.8 on my localhost by changing some codes.
but in the new ver i still have the problems which i had with ver 7.01
those problems are:

1- non of my  users can read any pm (they can send a pm successfully but can not read . users even get a prompt that there are new pms in their inbox but as i told they can not read it). when you click to view a pm in your inbox it hangs up in the inbox page with out any error page or error prompt.

2- when admin wants to create permissions on Forums for a member he sees this:

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'Read'.
/forum/admin/create_user_permissions.asp, line 133

Browser Type:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)

Page:
POST 95 bytes to /forum/admin/create_user_permissions.asp

3-when admin wants to create permissions on Forums for a group he sees this:

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'Read'.
/forum/admin/create_group_permissions.asp, line 126

tanks.
Sorry for not speaking foreign language - English - well !!

1. Sounds like a corrupted file, reupload files again

2 & 3. Sounds like you may not have updated all the files correctly, make sure all the files in the admin section are from version 7.8

No. I replaced all files but it dos not work again.

isnt this because of runing on a localhost?

The problem could then be to do with ADO as this is used in both the updates that are throwing up the error.

Try updating the MDAC drivers from www.microsoft.com/data

The forum is developed using localhost so don't see how this could be the problem.

I've remebered another post on your first issue about the PM inbox hanging.

It turned out to be the Script blocking option being enabled in Norton Anti-Virus.

If you are running Norton Anti-Virus then you should:-

A. Turn off Script blocking
B. Better still, get some decent anti-virus software Trend-micro do a much better product as it caches more viruses and doesn't slow the machine as much
