Hello,

I have installed Web Wiz Forum for IIS/SQL server about 3 months ago but have not used it due to other pressing issues. Now I am trying to revisit this project and I am lost. I seem to recall being able to install the software successfully but am not sure.

Can someone help me troubleshoot to see where I am with this? I see that the databases are created and when I try to run msqSQL_server_setup.asp, I get error messages saying that files already exsist. Where do I go from here? I can't seem to get to the default page to login into the forum either.

Thanks in advance

The SQL server setup files should only be run once, if you run it more than once then you will need to delete the database and start over, this is why you are getting errors.

Once you have recreated the database, using the setup file try running the defaut page, if you get an error post what the error is here if it is not already covered in another posts or the documentation.

Should I delete everything, including the website in IIS and start over or do I just delete the DB?

Okay, I recreated the database and rerun the msSQL_server_setup.asp.

I get a Congratulations your database have been created message :)

or something to that effect.

I now try to open the default.asp page located in the forum folder but I get this message when doing so.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e4d'

Login failed for user 'Administrator'.

/COForum/Web/forum/common.asp, line 232

What do I do now?

This looks like the details enterd into the file admin/SQL_server_connection.asp are incorrect so the file is failing to connect to the SQL server database.

Or maybe you selected Windows NT Security instead of the built in SQL Security

... but, but, but... it said CONGRATULATIONS!

Okay, for the server name, naturally I put the server name. For the username and password, I entered the Windows admin usersname and password. The database name is the database I created for my forum.

I created the database in \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data, is that okay?

If it is because I used NT Security, where do I change it so I am using SQL Security?

Thanks for the help guys.

If the database was setup successfully then you can ignore what Mart said.

The problem is as I mentioned in my last post is that you have incorrect details in your admin/SQL_server_connection.asp file, so you are getting an error because the application can not log into the SQL Server.

You need to open the file admin/SQL_server_connection.asp and check that all the login details for your SQL Server are correct and there are no miss spellings.

It is... WORKING... yeeeeehaaaa!

Thank you!

My bad, I put my Windows Admin info instead of my SQL DB admin info.

Now to learn how to use it!!
