Hi

I have a similar problem to a previous post, however it is a bit different.  I had my forum on a free ISP (1asphost) and now have access to a another ISP where I would like to move my whole forum to.  I copied the files over and I am not able to login now. (no members are able to login).  The message that is coming up is "Your login was unsuccessful due to a cookie problem".  All cookies are enabled and the forum worked perfectly on the free hosting ISP.

I also downloaded the new forum (7) and uploaded that to my new server aswell.  I get the same error as with my previous forum.  Am i doing something wrong?

Your help will be appreciated.

Adriana.

the two things i would try first are:

1.  delete all cookies for the browser you are using and clear cache and try it

2.  try a different brand of browser and try it

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

Hate to say this, but i have already tried both these things.  Its not only me that can't access it, it is everyone else that used to use the forum also.

I am just wondering whether is could be a permission error on the actual server?  Any ideas?

Any help is appreciated.

Cookies are associated with a domain name. when you moved, you most likely changed the domain name. Physically examine the temp internet files list for the cookies - sometimes win does a poor job of deleting them - clearing the cache doesn't do cookies.

If you are using access and specify the physical path, it's probably changed after the move. If MS SWL, you probably have a different server and login.

The cookie issue is common and there are loads of posts on it.

Browser can not correctly set and read back in cookies if you use things like domain forwarding/masking, IP masking, etc.
