Could somebody help me please?

I currently run a small non-profit job website (basically out of the goodness of my heart!).   At the moment when employers add vacancies to the site, they have to fill out a form which comes to me via BraveNET (free website apps site) and then I have to manually format the information before putting on a website.

I currently run the excellent (yes I am sucking up!  , but genuinely.) Web Wiz forums on my site.  Is there a asp application that anybody knows that will allow users of the site to come on, submit a vacancy by answering a series of questions, such as “what’s the working week” and “salary” and then submit it. The application would then ideally format this information and put it on the website.  Even better would be if I could decide on whether to allow it or not before allowing it to go live.

If this is possible, without cost or minimal cost it would be extremely helpful to me and I would be very grateful if anybody can offer a solution or an idea.

Cheers all!

That is actually a very basic system. Create a form with all values you need for your jobs. Then on an asp page run a database insert query adding all those fields to a database, also having one database filed called something like approved. Set the default value for approved to 0. Then have some kind of admin interface where you query all database entries that have approved=0 and an update database script to approve or delete the post. So if you know basic database operations in asp it should be a quick thing to do.

Thanks very much for your reply Michael

I should have explained that I am very much a novice with ASP and so unfortunetly I don't understand what you are trying to explain.

I was hoping that somebody might be kind enough to point me in the right direction to a pre-written asp application (like Webwiz forum) which I can just install onto my host server and customise.

However if you know of comprehensive instructions on what you are trying to explain then I would be very intrested in teaching myself, I find it intresting.  Also I have never used Access for something more complicated that editting already existing fields.

Thank you again.

right 3rd time a charm....

1 st = computer crashed when just about finished writing this post

2nd = connection slowed and stopped

3rd time = Now

right here goes... i run a web site with a section on asp.... with free asp applications and i have only made one at the monent as thte asp section has just been created... at the monment i only have one free asp application (tv guide).....

ill concider making the application as it would add another application to my asp section... and it isn't that hard to make....

if you want to see the quality of my work have a look at the tv guide application....its not out of beta yet but when it is ... it will be well documented....

ive learnt from the best (bruce corkhill - owner of web wiz guide).... he doesn't know it as i have learnt from looking at the forum application.... and i have from looking at the application... followed in his foot steps and the applications from breathofair are developed in a simular way .. in easy to customise, translate, intergrate into your web site, any way if you contact me by pm from my site ill concider the application.... so we can sort out the ideas for features...

also if your a beta tester.. you would get the uplock code for the powered by breathofair... if the application goes ahead it would be about 2 weeks untill the first beta would be released...

also if you want to contact me live please look in my profile for ways....

any way if this is not what you want to do.... have a look at http://www.aspin.com - aspin.com .... they have lots of applications

To balearicjobs

Interesting, I have a person, me, and need a job! I'm an unemployed IT analyst with great expertise in computer anti-virus. I was a beta tester for Symantec, was one of their electronic support people and assisted their engineers with their corporate products. They once told me I knew more about their a-v products than any single person there.  Alas, with the evening news telling us all how terrible our economy is, people started believing that BS and stopped buying so I was laid off from the company where I was the a-v administrator and system engineer.
I'm looking - can you put that in your job database?

I'm a novice web person - very much novice, but not terrible, either. People do seem to like my work.
Bill from gloomy overcast midwest U.S.
Hi to all our friends who still like us :-)
