I want to purchase a domain name and I am wanting to know is there any differences between registrars? The only difference I see is the price.

I like registerfly as they send a stream of emails starting about 6-8 weeks before a domain expires to remind you. Also like their interface a lot.

Many people are happy with godaddy but they reserve the right to pull your domain name if they don't like the content. Never had that problem, but I think it's arrogant.

the thing you should look at is
  1. the price. you shouldn't pay much more than 10 bucks a year for a single .com/.net domain unless you run a VERY big commercial website
  2. the company's support
  3. their control panel. does it have possibilities to change DNS properties, including nameservers? if not, does the registrar do it manually for you, for free?

EDIT: you could also ping their nameservers from different locations in the world (using online tools) and look at the results. if it takes more than 300-500 ms to get a response from most of the locations, you should consider another registrar
