What does this actually do - Compact and Repair Access Database?

By doing this will it prevent users from accessing the forum when its being done? Could it cause data to be lost?

using the compact and repair feature makes sure the database is running at optamuim speed and size.

depending on the size it may make a few seconds. while the feature is being done it will course errors in the database and posts can't be done .. but its a few seconds if your forum is heavely used you might want to close it while its done.
