I have a website running WWF 6.34 very succefuly using CDONTS for e-mail registration confirmations.

I am assembling a new website on which I very much want to use WWF 7 even in it's beat stages. The advantages and features  of WWF 7 far outweigh any bugs that might be lurking within. However I am having difficulty getting any e-mail out of WWF 7 using CDNOTS. I have also tried using CDOSYS but to no avail. All of my hosting is done on my Fasthosts reseler account, and there is no difference between the two site's server wise.

Can anyone confirm that CDONTS works on WWF 7, as this will mean that I must be doing something wrong, and I can pursue that line.

Thanks in advance.....

P.S. I wish I had discovered WWF a long time ago... to those involved in it's production, a very big thank you! And I wish you much success and prosperity for the future.

With Fasthosts either the incomming or outgoing email address needs to be a local POP mail box setup in your FH control panel.

But it works fine with Ver:6.34

So are you saying with ver 7 I have to setup SMTP? I have riped out ver 7 off this site, put 6.34 on and that works fine; put 7 back on and it won't.

Any ideas?

You need to make sure that the email address of the forum entered in teh admin area is a POP email address setup in your Fasthosts control panel.

The email functions haven't changed since version 6.

Fasthosts setup their servers so that either the 'from' or the 'to' address needs to be a local one inorder for their SMTP servers to authenticate the email and relay it on.
