Hi,

Sometimes forum hangs, especially after sending new post. Closing all IE windows and reopening it helps. ... My ISP's web admin told me, that forum occupies about 80 MB of RAM. It is normal?

I used MsAccess 2002 as storage, after compacting its size is 50MB, forum has 5933 topics, 48256 posts and 1876 users. I use 7.9, but with 7.5 was as now.

Best regards,
Joanna

Access is a flat file database system and as such means that each time a user connects to your forum the entire database needs to be loaded into memory.

Access was never designed as a database backend and although simple to use and practicle for smaller scale projects I would never recommend using Access as the database backend for a forum system.

You should look at changing over to the MS SQL Server version. This will also reduce web server load thus speeding up all the sites on the server.
