Dear friends,

I didn't change anything; I didn't install any MODS; I didn't alter the configurations of my server; I didn't do ANYTHING! However, my forum mysteriously started to fail, exhibiting this message:

 Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'CDate'

/forum/common.asp, line 448

What's happening? And WHY?

Could be a corrupted cookie, try clearing out your cookie cache first.

If that fails look up how to correct the CDATE error in the documentation for the forum.

I did just as you told me (after trying to clean my cookies didn't do the trick). Then I cleaned my cookies again and got the following msg:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'
Type mismatch: 'CDate'
/forum/Default.asp, line 154

Then I hit refresh and

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'
Type mismatch: 'CDate'
/cinemacena/forum/common.asp, line 461

Did you read the forum documentation on this error as I mentioned and changed the LCID value in the common.asp file?

You may need to contact your hosts and get the correct LCID settings from them.

If that fails then it looks like a setting your hosts have changed on the server have left your forum incompatible with their servers.

And the most strange thing is: it comes and goes. The problem does not happen all the time. Is that a clue, an indication of what the problem might be? (And yes, I changed the LCID setting)

Try another browser like Mozilla Firefox and see if that gives the same problem this will help tell if it could be that your cookie cache on IE is to blame:-

I have the exact same thing happening with me. It comes and goes and I've already changed the LCID.

I've also tried opening the page with Mozilla - the error continues, but instead of line 461 in common.asp with IE, now it's 448 with Mozilla.

I really can't see where the problem is.

Ok, I solved the problem.

The solution seems quite simple and stupid at the same time: Your LCID is not the same of the Server.

I've put the Forum according to Portuguese LCID, after talking to the server hosting company - they told me that the server was configured to Portuguese time system. Then came this problem and suddenly I remembered changing the LCID to the UK code, since the GMT is the same as in Portugal. AND IT WORKED!

CONCLUSION: Check very well if the server's hosting company is telling you the truth about the server settings.
