Nothing has been done on version 8.0 for about 3 months now as I have been working on the next version of the mailing list application.

I have also had allot of work on with my sound and lighting company I started at the beginning of the year and have been trying to build up. Installing intelligent lighting systems in a local night club and doing local free community events etc. to advertise the business.

This has left me with little time for hobby's like working on this site and the ASP applications.

Hasn't 8.0 alpha been running here for a long long time, with excellent performance, speed and agility? I'm sorry to bug you, but I can't wait to be honest. ;)

Yes, but I have not had time to work on any forum code for the last 4 months so version 8 still dosen't have any of the other parts I want to add yet.

I'm hopping to get a bot more done to it over the next 2 weeks before I start back for my final year at University.

I just wanted to say Good luck on your Sound and Lighting company and I understand how much time you have to dedicate to such projects. I my self in the past did sound and lighting engineering for the North Wales Theatre 2nd biggest stage in the UK. I also had work Djing and light design and operation in a local night club. Had loads of fun doing all but like you say, it will take all the time you can give it and more. The jobs tend to be your hobby or you won’t stick it for long.

All the best, I hope you have a much fun as I did + more and thank you for the time you have remaining with all the ASP stuff.

Well -boRg-,

I just had a chat with your University and explained our case and the need of WWF 8. Needless to say that they were very impressed with your work and full of sympathy for the community work you do for us, addicted WWF users. Afraid that things could get out of hand and that world economy would come to a halt if WWF 8 was delayed for a long time they told me that you can start your final year after you finished WWF version 8. I personally thanked them for their understanding and being so cooperative and told them that I spoke on behalf of the whole WWF community.

They already given me a year away, if I don't finsh the final year this year then I will not get my degree as it will have been to long since I started in 2000, there is a limit on the amount of years you have to complete a degree which is set down by the governing body and not the University.

Anyway, I want to get it finshed now as soon as possiable, at least before my 31st Birthday next year.

Let me just say that even if you stopped development on the forum, you have given more to the internet and ASP community that is deserved. My hat is off to you for any endeavor that you do, and I want to say again that I owe you a debt of gratitude for your part in launching my web design company. If I had not stumbled across WWG, then my interest in web coding would have remained stagnant. Take all the time you need for version 8. The current version is awesome as it is.

Kudos again and good luck in your degree!!

I have noticed the alpha we are using has sub-forums ... humm I thought, we already have Cats > Forums > Topics > Threads, where the sub-forums would benefit anything is yet to be seen (at least I haven't seen the need for it).

What other improvements or new stuff have you done or plan to do?

Take your time borg, 7.9 is already stable and can wait.

I can see a benefit:

Cats > Forums > Sub-Forums > Topics >

Could be used like this:

Cats > Language > Sub-Forums > Topics >

If you get what I mean... :)

Humm ... no, still don't see it.

By having sub-forums, one is making the parent (forums) to become a (category) but we already have categories.

Dispite spending quite a bit looking at the current alpha implementation of sub-forums, I still don't see a real use ... Sub-forums (Mods, Langs and Skins) of Forum (Support) which is in Cat (WWF), don't see why? Why not just make (Mods, Langs and Skins) forums of Category (WWF) in the first place?

Well I can see a benefit for my site, but if you don't... It's ok.

You don't have to use the subs!

A use of subforums would be something like this

category: WWF Releases
Forum> WWF Version 7.5
   SubForum> WWF Version 7.5 Updates
   SubForum> WWF Version 7.5 Support
Forum> WWF Version 7.7
   SubForum> WWF Version 7.7 Updates
   SubForum> WWF version 7.7 Support

You could do this in categories but it is a bit inconvenient. With subforums it becomes simpler.

-boRg-

thank you for your excellent job! I already told it to you in the past...
Please excuse me for being a nut, but from this list I just read I got informed that you don't really know when the 8.0 ver. will be released... I hope it's my mistake, but can you please give designate date?

Like borg said so many times in other threads, when it's done. Like he said before he is busy with other things that take priority so we all just have to wait.

That makes more sense.
