what alarm did you get - 2) b.v.1

I have a hunch that 2) worked and the mail is either unacceptable or undeliverable on the relay server.

On your local machine, you m,ay want to check the subdirectories under mailroot to see if anything error-like is in them.

Humm, a bit confusing, I also run WWF on my Dell PE server with WinSrv2003 Std, but I don't use Exchange, I use the IIS SMTP server (CDOSYS) to send mail and it works just fine.

Is this a new problem for you?

You also say you have JMail com installed, are you declaring the component correctly to use it?

Or, maybe it's a conflict with several SMTP's all configured to port 25 and none will work.

There's also the slight possibility that your ISP is blocking port 25 to prevent open relays, mine did, but they opened it when I requested it and they do periodic tests to determine they can't relay through it.

CDOSYS is currently not able to use 'localhost' in the current version.

If you are getting a 404 error then usually this is due to an incorrect URL setting to your forums location entered in the admin area.

i just had a look,

will that url work in a real situation because i get a 404 error, therefore all emails from the forum will not work anyway?

im not sure why you where getting the mailist path though.. the only thing i can think it is because its a redirect its not redirecting teh rest of the page..

it only redirect the first part and not the /forum section are you with ukreg or easyspace ?

if your using redirecting then it wont work and thats the problem.

can i confiorm that your URL in emails has the maillist section or is it the http://www.lvmfc.co.uk/forum one?

are you using there free redirect services. if so then i think the case is as i stated above..

the redirect is only to the / of the site. it can't follow down the folder tree.

the only way to over come this is to set the real path , the one you stated earlier (the real path is xxxxx)... i know it might not look the best but its the only way on your current set up
