I am trying to set up the forum on my intranet server.

I copied all the files over to my server using windows explorer and have modified the file permissions as per note  http://www.webwiz.net/asp/faq/server_permissions.asp - http://www.webwiz.net/asp/faq/server_permissions.asp

I have not changed a files or locations so everything is in default state.

When I try to access the /forum/  files I get the following error

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01f4'

Variable is undefined: 'Session'

/intranet/forum/common.asp, line 53

What am I doing wrong

Thanks

Make sure the files are not corrupted by reuploading the files again.

If this doesn't help, make sure that the server supports ASP Sessions as the line in error is trying to create a Session variable.

As the server is an internal intranet server running on Windows 2003 professional and I already run asp pages to search the staff contacts database using a conn file.

I transferred the forum software via windows explorer copy and paste, and gave the rights as per your document.

But still get the following message:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01f4'

Variable is undefined: 'Session'

/intranet/forum/common.asp, line 53

What can I check for on the server?

Same problem here on Windows 2003 Std. Downloaded using "Save as", tried both UK and US mirror, everyone granted full control to rule out permission problems.

This will be a problem with the server you are using.

The server needs to support session variables.
