I want to find out if a Webservice can be consumed without referencing or using SOAP.

Is there any other way to call a web service dynamically.

Please if some one can provide a snip of the code I will really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Shrini

Well you need to reference a webservice in order to use it, whether you do it via the Web References or not is a different story but a reference must be there. When you say dynamically, is the URL dynamic or the Webservice itself? If it's just the URL, reference the localhost one, have a configuration variable pulled from i.e. app.config and on form load or pre-connect just set myWebService.URL="http://myhost.com/myservice.asmx"
If the Webservice itself is dynamic you will face the problem that you don't necessarily know it's method and what good is a ws if you don't use it's methods?

So how does VS scan the methods?

nah, its WSDL (Web Service Definition language).

If you visit http://localhost/yourService.asmx?WSDL you will see an xml file that defines your web service showing all methods, properties etc.

thats what VS constructs a class from
