I am running 7.7a and would like to upgrade to 7.9 but I'm nervous that if I do it wrong, I may lose the existing discussions, uploads and settings.

I saw in another post that you said "If you are using the Access version ... then you just need to replace the files with the latest version keeping your database intact." and I am running Access.

When I expand the directory tree, there are many subdirectories and files under "forum" in the distributed package. I assume I should not be replacing /forum/admin/database or /forum/admin/uploads/ but is there a clear statement describing exactly which directories and files should be replaced?

The version hiistory file does list the changed files, but it would be simpler just replacing all the files.

Just don't overwrite the forums database which ends with .mdb and make a backup of it first just incase.

Also if your database is still the in default location in the folder admin/database, then you should read the install instructions on moving the database so that your forum is secure from hackers.

What about your uploads folder? And what about common.asp?
