Believe it or don't

sipence.com registered 1 million domain in less than 7 days....
The Fastest Growing ICANN Registrars, between 09/27/2004 - 10/04/2004 registered about 950,774 domains... can you believe this???

All .info domains registered on behalf of the .com domain owners - without the owners knowledge. If the owner takes no steps to formally activate them, they expire in 45 days.

EDIT: Sipence ia actually a division of enom - not just a registrar affiliated with them.

It's not that much. When companies do this, they do custom deals we can't get. There's no way they paid regular prices.

Probably didn't cost them a thing. .info domains were not taking off as expected so enom made some deal with the .info tld people - the domains are only temporary - not initially for a full year, and would probably lead to increased .info usage as people did activate them for the full year. some number of the activaters will re-subscribe to the domain next year.

As of now, I manage 151 .info's - one that I signed up for, and 150 that they signed me up for. Next month, I'll have 2. I would have gotten the second one regardless of the enom thing. Matter of fact, the enom thing made it difficult to get control over the domain.

150 seems to be one of their magic numbers - know of several people who had .info domains added for 150 of their .coms. Other people seem to have had over 3000 .info's added. Most plan on just letting them expire at the end of the 45 day period.
