Could it be that what you need is a thumbnail image of the main full size picture? If so, there's 3 ways I can think of right now: 1. You can specify the size of the image that will act as thumbnail with the HTML [WIDTH/HEIGHT] attributes, this way a thumb is created automatically, the draw backs are, that the scalling down is of poor quality, aspect ratio may not be preserved and it will take as long to load as the actual loading of the bigger image. 2. You can submit 2 images per picture, one is the smaller thumb and a main full size image. 3. You can get a COM for this that will auto-generate a thumb from a given image. Hi thanks for the reply. I think what I would be looking for is some kind of automated procedure that I would not have to worry much about. If you take a look at the gallery in the cgtalk.com forum you will see what I mean. I guess a COM would be the way to go. Can you tell me more about that? Brad |

I had a look at cgtalk.com and I think they are using my option 2, they submit several images per image, observe:
1. Small: http://www.cgnetworks.com/gallerycrits/4997/4997_1098433910_small.jpg - 4997_1098433910_small.jpg :: 80 x 80 px 2. Medium: http://www.cgnetworks.com/gallerycrits/4997/4997_1098433910_medium.jpg - 4997_1098433910_medium.jpg :: 680 x 785 px 3. Big: http://www.cgnetworks.com/gallerycrits/4997/4997_1098433910.jpg - 4997_1098433910.jpg :: 750 x 850 px As for going COM, I've seen some around that will do that, some are even free and don't carry much weight, I'll update you on this later, just remind me if I don't post here for sometime. ------------- :: http://www.mylittlehost.com/ - www.mylittlehost.com |
