Subject: Exchange Email Notification Setup

I am having problems getting Web Forums to send auto notifications.  My Web Forums are running on a Windows 2000 Professional Server that is my IntrANet web server.  On my network I also have another server that is my Exchange Server.  I have Web Forums set up to use CDOSYS.  What I do not understand is how to set my Outgoing SMTP Mail Server setting.  Since it is a local exchange server and not an internet email address I do not know what to enter here.  Any suggestions would be a great help.

Mike

Try using the IP address of the server that MS Exchange is running on.

Thank you for the reply.  I did try the IP address and got the following error message.

Mail Communication Errors.

CDO.Message.1 error '80040213'

The transport failed to connect to the server.

Exchange will I think starting 2000 SP3 not support any anonymous requests. You either need to give exchange access to the IIS' Metabase (when you say intranet, are you authenticated meaning no anonymous access to the site?) if so or in any other way you can set cdo authentication with
cdoAnonymous Do not authenticate.
cdoBasic Use basic (clear-text) authentication. The configuration sendusername/sendpassword or postusername/postpassword fields are used to specify credentials.
cdoNTLM Use NTLM authentication (Secure Password Authentication in Microsoft® Outlook® Express). The current process security context is used to authenticate with the service.

Another more robust option for exchange (though would require some coding skills) would be this http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;1769 14
