Installed SP2 recently, now my PC randomly plays a beep sound!  Anyone know what this is?  No message comes up.  Just blo-bleep!

Is this when IE is open? If so it may be the info bar, or maybe windows is just having a jam,

Another reason not to install SP2 yet? <snickers>

Does it appear to be a system speaker beep or is this coming from your pc speakers?

Could it be the insert hardware sound?

It fully mashed my windows theme. I had all black bars and menus. Makes it a bit hard to navigate when you can not see what you're doing.

It's really starting to wee me off now!  Argh!  Maybe if I find the sound file and delete it.

Aha found the sound you are right its the IE information bar warning sound.  I don't have IE loaded though, seems a bit strange.  When I do load it I can't see the information bar, how can I see it?

The info bar is hidden until it blocks a popup or finds and AX control it doesn't like

When I open task manager, theres an IE window there making the beep:

MicroSoft-Corp53 - Microsoft Internet Explorer

How do I get rid of it?
