Hello,

I have downloaded WWF and studied the docs and the forum.  It looks great!

Before uploading to our site, I can't find an answer to this question:

Is it possible to pre-populate tblAuthor in the db with user names and passwords?

Our Club has 1200 members, our site is currently using a non-threaded and fugly simple asp message board.

Guests are not allowed, club members login with real firstname lastname and member number password. An access mdb holds the member data.

That is why I would like to upload all user names and passwords before letting the forum go live.

Also, is there a potential problem if I change in tblAuthor the username field indexed as "Yes (Duplicates OK)"  We have three Dan Murphy's, two Mary O'Neills, etc.

Many thanks,
Bob, in Dublin

There isn't away at present of pre-populating the user table.

Usernames need to be unique inorder for the forum to run correctly, also have different people post with the same username would confuse people as to who had posted what information.

As well as a username field there is also a Real Name field, that could be used for the persons real name which can be the same.

Ah well, thanks anyway...nice looking board, but we need something that can be organised by admin, rather than individual users.

all the best,

Bob

There are a number of functions that can be enabled for the admin to have more control.

New membership can be disabled and only the admin can add new members from the admin area.

Groups can be setup and given certain permissions in different forums.

As well as allot of other admin functions that can be used to give the admin more control over the running of the board.
