Any ideas please people - I have searched the forum and found no answer.

Could be a corrupted file, try reuploading the files again.

If that fails, try updating the servers MDAC drivers from www.microsoft.com, if you have access to the sweb server.

Still can't solve this one - I had forgotten about it but we got a new user!

All is well for existing users but this crops up when a new user tries to register.

Hello everyone.

I'm having the exact same problem. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Thanks in advance!

This is an old thread, but if the re-upload or mdac solutions didn't work for you, search aspfaq.com for 80020005

If you have added mods, you might get this type of error because of two mods on a page using the same variable name for different things.

I had forgotten about this. Thank the Lord, I have not had the problem again. I am not sure how I solved it (nearly a year ago) but I suppose it was just to upload everything again.

Good luck

I think there is a good chance that the Access MDB is corrupt.  A simple MS Access Compact & Repair might do the trick.

That error code indicates a type mismatch between what is being sent to the database and the actual field type.  Line 901 in version 7.92 is:

      .Fields("Location") = strLocation

The Author.Location field in the Access is Text(60) and in the SQL version is nvarchar(60).  Both allow null's and aren't indexed, so basically, the field should allow absolutely any character or no text at all.

What version of the WWF are you running and is it Access or SQL?  Does the data for a new user actually get stored?  If so, can they change the data after they've registered?

Thanks to all for your prompt response!

I tried each and everyone of your suggestions and the one that did it for me was changing the author.location field in the access database. It was set to number and not text.

Thanks to all of your again!

Hi everyone, I'm having now another problem that I don't know if its related to this or not.. but for some reason now I can edit other member's posts, it takes me to the insufficent permissions page. Any idea why this is happening?

Its interesting thoug because before I was perfectly able to edit other member's post which is natural considering I am the admin. But I'll do a search and see what comes up, thanks dj air!
