Subject: 2 forums on 1 host ???

Greetings,

Is it possible to run 2 instances of a WebWiz forum on 1 host?

More specifically:
2 different databases with different names each pointing to their
specific directory.
2 different forum directories each having a different name like
forum and forum2. ( common.asp points to database )

Now, I know how to point the common.asp files to the database.

Do I need to point the database to the specific forum directory if it is renamed, or is all of that taken care of by the .asp?

I hope this makes sense.

Thank you,

Steve

You can run two copies on the same host.

However, as web wiz forums uses application variables, if the two forums are running on the same domain sharing application variables, then you will need to disable the use of application variables by editing the common.asp file and also turn off active users features from the admin area.

If you are running the two forums in different domains or sub domains they should have their own application level variables so you won't need to do this.

If you change the name and location of the database you simply need to follow the install instructions on how to change the path and name reference in the common.asp files:-

Hi Borg,

First: I love 7.9 ... just upgraded!

My question refined a bit:
Have a look here to see what I'd like to emulate:
http://forums.webwiz.net/default.asp?C=2 - http://forums.webwiz.net/default.asp?C=2

You have 'seem' to have ( in the way it looks )
4 seperate forums:
------------------------
Forum
Web Wiz Guide's ASP Applications Support Forums

Forum
General Discussion

Forum
Community Forums

Forum
Testing This Forum
------------------------

I'm not finding the way to set this up in my forum.
This is as close as I can get at this point:
http://http://www.sightsea.com/pghpchd/forum/default.asp?C=8 - http://http://www.sightsea.com/pghpchd/forum/default.asp?C=8

I suspect I'm just missing something in the setup or not understanding the terminology in the admin area?

Can you help me get it?

Thank you,

Steve

i think all -BoRg- has done is added the whole table into the loop/next ..

so a new table is created for each forum instead of the other all together... also added some <br/> s to add the space.

Hi dj,

Can you point me to where the "loop/next" changes can be made?
I seached for the terms loop/next in my forum directory and didn't find
it.
Also I'm noticing that it says "Forum" at the top of each.
Can that be added in the same place?

Thanks,

Steve

Have a look at some of the skins available in the skins forum as the placin a space between each forum group is included in quite a number of skins.

This is why it will be added to the next version of web wiz forums as it seems that most people most prefer it that way as so many skins include that change.
