The forum appears to act inconsistently when a member registers with strange characters in their nickname.

We have a new member called "[10mbit]rajtz".

We can send a PM by looking up the nickname in the normal manner. However, if we click the PM button we are presented with a user name of "[10mbit]rajtz" which will not send of course.

I guess the forum is protecting itself against dangerous html but am not sure that this is necessary on the PM button.

Indeed I hope the examples in this posting work OK...at least you get the idea !

I know of the problem, but sending PM's will still work.

I'm glad its known about but it does not work when you click the PM button and it is this that forum members are having trouble with.

The message received is:

Your Private Message "test", has not been sent!

The Username you have entered can not be found.

I recognise there is a work-around of looking up the name. However, many members do not discover this and are unable to PM this guy - I'm getting asked.

I acknowledge its a low priority thing in the scheme of things borg - just wanted to get in on the map !

For the moment, till version 8 is released next year, you will just have to checnge this users username.

Version 8 will also not allow usernames characters such as []{}:~ etc. which course problems.

Thanks for sharing your plan - we will try to identify and change any usernames containing odd characters in time for version 8.
