The old Netscape used to be based on the Mozilla Suite. The current
version does have some extra modifications. The current version (or
current beta??) also has a built in IE engine. If the site dosen't
render correctly you can run it in IE but still in the Netscape Window.
I think it might also have enhancments in RSS feeds or something.

From the FireFox FAQ page:
====================
- What's the difference between Firefox and Mozilla?
Mozilla (Application Suite, also known as SeaMonkey) is a complete
suite of web related applications, such as a browser, a mail/news client,
a chat client and much more. Firefox is just a browser, which makes
it a better choice if you already have a mail client for example. Also,
since Firefox is smaller than the whole Mozilla suite, it's faster and
easier to use.
Note, though, that Firefox is not the standalone Mozilla browser. The user
interface in Firefox differs from Mozilla in many ways. For example, Firefox
has http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/faq#q4.1 - customizable toolbars . - ======================
Also, if I am not mistaken, the Firefox code is eventually slated to be used in the Netscape browser.

Also, the following notes from the http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/charter.html - FireFox charter explain a lot:
==============
- Delivering the right set of features - not too many
or too few (the goal is to create a useful browser, not a
minimal browser)
- Making as few compromises as possible where user experience is
concerned. We will not compromise the main line UI to placate
an element of the community. Usability is a large area consisting
not only of the things one typically considers related to the
user experience such as the design of dialog boxes and windows,
but also things such as interaction design (looking at how
users try and accomplish a task, noting the paths they take and
attempting to optimize those paths) and performance (reaction
speed from a piece of software is important so as not to annoy
the user - perceived speed is often more important than actual
speed).
- Keeping the download size down - to less than 5.0MB on Windows
for the installer.
