I have been using the Web wiz forum v7.9 for 2 months now, and it was working just fine, and all of a sudden I am getting multiple database errors.

I get this when I try to login....

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09'

Can not update. Database or object is read-only.

/forum/login_user.asp, line 171

And I get this when I try to read a forum post...

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/forum/forum_posts.asp, line 326

ConfusedI don’t know why.

I am using Microsoft Access 2000 version of WWF, and I am using a JET database connection, mostly because it does not like DSN or Access drivers.

After writing all that ^ , I logged into my server admin section and went back to the forum and everything worked again

OuchWhy? Can anybody help me with my complicated problem?

The problem is incorrect permissions on the folder the access database is in.

The problem and solution are explained in more detail in the setup and installation documentation that comes with the software and can also be read online at:-

Thanks for your help!

I did have the permissions set at Read/Write/Execute, and it didn't work, then I changed it to Read/Write/Execute/Delete, and it started working.
