Ok, I have a problem, I had my board locked down for administration, lost my internet connection, when I got it back, I could not log back in to finish what I was doing, or unlock the forums.

I posted this prob in an old thread, got some advice to modify the Access database's configuration table forum_closed setting to reopen it.

I downloaded the database, made the change, (unchecked the check box) re uploaded the modified database overwriting the original on the webserver.

Still no luck, it still opens the main page showing the forums are locked for maintenance. I deleted the database on the webserver, then re uploaded the modified database, and again, the main screen comes up stating the forums are closed for maintenance.

Is there another way around this? Another way to fix it? I'm a complete noob to website administration, but I can follow directions, please help.

Thanks,

have yoiu tried

  • a fresh database to see if it works then
  • downloading the one online and changing the value, and doing a compact and repair as the database may have been affected when you lost the connection. not likely but possable.
  • you can always see about uploading a back up version of the database, your webhost should be able to help with this option.

You might want to try deleting any mydatabasename.lck file that's in the same directory as your data base.

The .lck file keeps track of who's doing what in access, sometimes it get corrupted. If you delete it, it will be recreated but any users of access at the time of deletion will get bumped.
