Subject: password login page

I am using my xp pro machine to create a site for myself. I have installed iis on it and put all the data from the password login files in it ( http://www.webwiz.net/asp/sample_scripts/database_login_script.asp - http://www.webwiz.net/asp/sample_scripts/database_logi n_script.asp )
I get the initial default.htm page up fine. After typing the given user/pass (the generic one. I havent' changed any data yet) it comes up with this error:

HTTP 500.100 - Internal Server Error - ASP error
Internet Information Services

Technical Information (for support personnel)

  • Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x728 Thread 0xa68 DBC 0x7638bc Jet'.
    /check_user.asp, line 24
Asp in enabled on the machine. Any help?

Thanks
Eversios

there error indicates that more than likely that it can't be found.

if the path to the database is correct make sure that its in good order.

try a compact and repair. then see if it is ok.

failing that try re downloading the Zip file again as it may have become currupt.

also if you want something more advanced you might want to take a look at my login manager (found from the link below).

Most likely that you don't have write permissions to the db, do a search, this has been discussed plenty of times on how to resolve this error.

good point michael. forgot the write permssions ..

also just let you know i have sent -boRg- a PM, about edit permssions in the asp.net forum.

sort them out, as its not a moderated forum also. which means it only leaves leaving it or deleteing the whole post.

I have made sure read and write permissions are on the db for the internet guest account, and even went so far as to add "everyone" on it with the same permissions. I still get a line 24 error and sometimes a line 33 error.

Does it make a difference that I am using acess 2003, not 2000?
