Is there a particular problem today?

Also... i see that getting rid of PMs and old posts and zero posters speeds things up... which one in particular?

Do pictures and avatars and the like also slow it down?

the speed of your board is dependant on your server status/ load etc.

deleting any of them will speed the performace a bit, also dependant on database version.

pictures and avatars do slow the load time as all the images have to be loaded

Also to add to dj air's bit.

If you are using Access you should compact and repair the database after any deletion, this will reduce the file size of the Access database and speed up the database.
