(Using version 7.9).  I've enabled email authentication for registration.  It worked fine when I tested it but did not require other users to receive an activation email from me (admin).  As I looked further, it appeared that as long as I was testing, I was using email accounts that reside on the local (webhosting) server.  Users that register outside of my hosting domain still receive an email from the system, but they get it as soon as they register; I don't have to approve it.  Anyone have an idea what I can check to validate this or stop it?  My only choice is to suspend registration and do it manually until I resolve my issue.  All help appreciated.

Thx,

Email activation is sent intently and is to check the email address given is real.

I think what you are looking for is an admin approval feature, which the current version does not have.

Have a look in the mods and add-ons forum to see if someone has written a mod that will do this.

Another option is to have the starting group as one that doesn't have post permissions in the forum, then manually move any new members to a member group that does have permission to post.

Thx boRg.  You are correct in your insite; I use to use phpBB on my other hosting site and it had that option.  I just assumed that the email option on this one performed the same way; wrong!.  I have searched for a mod and I found an interesting alternative; to have the email sent to me via the request.asp page and not the user.  I know very little about asp, but was able to change the necessary files and it worked at least one time for me!

Thanks for the great application and the wonderful support!  I apologize for not realizing the purpose of the email option before I started bothering you guys!

Thx!
