Hey all. I'm installing the Urchin web stat javascript file on my website. As you might know, I need to include this piece of javascript on EVERY page in the website (including all pop-ups, main pages, etc.). I currently have the .js file being included from the header.asp file. However, this header.asp file is not included on EVERY page of WWF (pop-ups for example).

So, is there a file that is included on every page of WWF? If I put it in common.asp, the javascript spits out above the beginning <HTML> tag. I'm not sure if this will work or not.

Thanks all.

There isn't a file that is included in all pop-up files.

There are only a limited number of pop-ups for things like profile and emotions, so I wouldn't woryyr to much.

However, I would recommend using a better tool like a log file analysis program that would be much more accurate.

Also with javascript, it will only work with browsers that have javascript enabled, also things like search engine spiders etc. don't have javascript so wouldn't be part of your stats

I have Urchin on a couple of sites but it doesn't use any Javascript. Installed at the web server level, not at the domain level.

If you find that you have to use javascript, the urchin docs indicate it can be included anywhere on the page but I believe it would need to be within the html-/html tags. footer.asp would probably do for most forum specific pages, The pop-ups and miscellaneous pages would need to be done manually.

Thanks for the quick response. Sounds like I'll need to manually include the .js in any page that doesn't use the header.asp file. Should not be a big problem.

Just FYI stuff here...

I'm using Hostway. The Urchin web stats service can be used with or without a "module" that better tracks unique visitors. This module is nothing more than a .js file that needs to be included on every page. It sets a unique cookie on the client and tracks their usage that way. I'm hoping that it can provide more accurate usage details for the site. We'll see!

Thanks guys.
